Luckily it is very easy to enable the task manager by running a .reg file, by editing the registry yourself or by editing the group policy. The first way using the reg file is the fastest one.  The registry file to enable the task manager is here. Just download the file, run it and confirm the action. Now the Task Manager can be started once again. If you would to disable the Task Manager for any reason you can use this registry file. If you want to manually enable the Task Manager from the registry editor, you need to start regedit (Start->Run->regedit) and locate the key

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

and change DisableTaskMgr to 0. If for any reason you want to disable the Task Manager change it 1.

The last way to disable the Task Manager is from the Group Policy Editor. The steps are:

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Run
  3. Enter gpedit.msc in the Open box and click OK
  4. In the Group Policy settings window
  5. Select User Configuration
  6. Select Administrative Templates
  7. Select System
  8. Select Ctrl+Alt+Delete options
  9. Select Remove Task Manager
  10. Double-click the Remove Task Manager option
