First there is no such thing is maximum security, second it is exactly the opposite as running more than one anti-virus on your computer may cause conflicts between the programs. Actually long ago I have contacted AVG about a problem I had with their program and they told me that I have some leftovers from Norton and this could be a problem. Here is what they said

<p><code>Generally, not only by our company, the use of more than one security solution under the same operating system is not recommended because of possible conflict in their main parts.<br />
Usually the "resident shield" functionality of the products may conflict with each other, resulting in unpredictable behavior in your computer and impairing response to a potential virus threat.</code></p>
<p>As you can see from the statement above not only AVG recommend not to use more than one anti-virus software, so don&#8217;t do it.</p>
